Membrane elements should not be installed on water sources that provide a microbial risk. The first full permeate tank ought to be thrown away. This first permeate should not be used to prepare meals or drink water. After the initial wetting, keep the elements moist at all times. For extended system shutdowns, membrane elements should be submerged in a preservative solution to inhibit biological growth. The membrane exhibits some resilience to chlorine’s transient attack (hypocrite). However, continuous exposure should be avoided since it may harm the membrane. The performance of membrane elements can be impacted by variations in water quality.
